  1. heres some commen breeds-

    Zebra Finch-Easy to take care of,a little messy(with seed),CANT tame them,but fun to watch.About $6-$20

Parakeet-Also easy to take care of ,but a little bit more messy, can hand tame them, but they bite a little hard.About $10-$25

Cockatiel-medium to take care of  messier than finches, fun when hand tame.but they bite harder.About $20-$50.(unless you buy a hand tame or hand fed probly like $100-$150

I would recremend a cockatiel for hand taming, but a finch for watching.

  2. If you have never owned a bird before, then a Parakeet or Cockatiel would be good. Those two are smaller birds, having easier going personalities than some of the bigger birds, are easier to care for, and are less expensive. Some Parakeets can talk , and Cockatiels can talk and whistle. Parakeets are around $15-20 and Cockatiels are around $65 and up. Lovebirds, Canaries, and Finches are also options. All three of these usually cost under $100.00, but some do cost a little over.

If you have a little bit of bird experience you could go with a Quaker Parrot (great talking ability), Sengal, Red Bellied Parrot, Myer's Parrot, Conure, Pionus, Indian Ringneck Parakeet, or an Alexandrine Parakeet. These birds will require a bigger cage than the previously mentioned birds, require more time, money. They are all great birds. Quakers cost anywhere from $150.00 to $500.00. Senegals, Red Bellied Parrots, and Myer's all cost around $350.00-600.00. A Pionus usually costs around $600.00 to $800.00. These are all pretty laid back birds, except for the Quaker, which I am not sure about. There many different types of Conures ranging in price from $200.00 on up. Rainbow Lorikeets are also amazing little birds. They can talk a little bit and very outgoing and playful personalities. They cosy between $350.00 and up. There are also other types of Lorikeets. Their drawback is that their diet consists of nectar and fruit, which makes their p**p runny and it squirts outside of the cage. It's easy to fix, I keep a mat under my cage and put a plastic shower curtain on the wall behind it. I cut it to fit the space, I didn't hang the whole curtain. I absolutely love mine. Caiques are also good little birds. They are very energetic. They are about $650.00 to $1,000.00.

It really depends want you are looking for in a bird. If you want less noisy, then Finches, Canaries, Lovebirds, Parakeets (although my Keets can be loud at times) are not as noisy as other birds. I am not sure on the noise level of the Cockatiel, but I don't think they are too noisy.

Pionus' are quieter birds. Lorikeets are definitely not quite birds. Quakers and Conures are not that quite either. If you don't have much space then you will want a Canry, Finch, Parakeet, Lovebird,  or a Cockatiel.

If it is bird you want to train and play with all them would work except for the Finch and the Canary (although I am sure there are exceptions).

There are so many birds and without answering some these questions it is hard to help. If you have a lot of bird experience please state it because there are more birds I could discuss.

I can't say which bird until I know you experience level.
