  1. you have to already have a credit card(visa, mastercard, discover-what the **** ever). and you need to be 18.

  2. Don't worry about credit cards now!  Obviously you are too young!  Btw, you have to be 18 to even apply for a credit card.   Most likey, you will NOT be approved, since you're new to credit!  Just get a debit card or something to look cool, if that's the reason why you really want a card!

  3. Sooo... you're thinking a credit card is "free money" eh?  Guess what... somebody still has to pay for that card.  And if you don't got the money, then guess who pays for it?   Yep, your parents.

Go learn the basics of economics and personal finance before you get a credit card.  Obviously, you have no idea what that thing is for.

And you have to be 18 to get a credit card unless your mom is crazy enough to give you hers!

  4. I can't help but feel cautious when I read this question. If you are worried about age then you are obviously young, and if you are short on money, a credit card will only do more damage in inexperienced hands. Especially when you want it for Abercrombie and Fitch.

If your parents are cool with paying for your expenses then they could probably get one for you. Most credit card companies allow about 3 cards per household. Credit usually starts at a minimum of $500, so it takes a lot of responsibility not to get carried away, or you won't have it for long.

All that you need to do is have your parents apply for a Visa, Mastercard, etc. online or go to your bank and apply. As a student they disregard the annual $15,000 household minimum income, so if you are in your teens it is possible that you could apply for one yourself, but I am pretty sure that you have to be 18.

If you can, get it yourself in your own name, that way you can start building up your credit early.

  5. oh jeez, another preppy teenager who wants to go get all the latest clothes at the coolest store whos mommy and daddy pay for everything and have no clue about the world around them....

  6. Way to start looking into it early.  Any card will help you build credit, but if you plan on maintaining a balance (which I strongly recommend against), you'll need to find one with a low rate (not just promotional rate).

You're looking into rewards- that's great.  If you're buying things and you're paying off your debt each month, you might as well get a small cash-back reward for your purchases.  Citicard.com and discovercard.com will have some good rewards programs for you.

the book here http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i... is a great resource for money issues, especially credit cards and banks.

    Good luck!
