Any brand will do really, all depends on what you want. As for point and shoot type digital cameras you can look at the top ones here ... http://tde222.com/compact-digital-camera... that have been reviewed by best image quality and also price. As you can see by looking at those, the best place to buy is amazon.com you may have to wait a couple days for shipping, but you will definitely save money buying through them. If you don't like the ones listed there, I suggest you to to ritz camera, circuit city, best buy, or someplace, play with the cameras, take a few pics, navigate the menus, see which you like best, then go to amazon.com and find same camera and purchase it cheaper.
