I want a dog but mom wont let me??

Question

i want a small dog (like a yorkie or something) but my mom does not want a dog ever since our bulldog died a year and a half ago. what should i do? money isnt really a factor because i have found some really cheap dogs so can you help? like anything to get her to cave in? im 13 and responsible btw

You probably aren't going to get a dog. While you live with your mom, it's her decision. Maybe she doesn't want to get a dog cause she thinks you won't take care of it (responsible or not). You can either wait till you grow up and move out, or why don't you try asking for a smaller pet to take care of for now. Like fish or something that lives in a tank.

maybe your mum is still grieving for her bulldog.  when my mums dog saben German Shepard dided 13 years ago she still misses him.  so maybe your mum isn't ready yet.  and dogs cost alot all their lives

i now have two dogs a Yorkie who's 10 years old and a new jack Russel who've have rescued.  and i have already spent £100 for my jack Russel already.

the only thing you can do is talk to your mum and accept her descion.

The cost of the dog is not the issue. Veterinary care, dog food, shots, heartworm medication, etc., all cost money.  

Also, you are 13.  You will likely go to college in 5 years.  You'll still have a dog at that point but you will not likely live at home anymore.  Then your mom has a dog. Maybe your mom doesn't want a dog.

Talk to her. Tell her how you feel, like that (maybe) you're lonely without a dog companion. Prove to her that you ARE responsible (even thought you know you are), prove it.

And Prove to her how much you really want a dog. Just tell her how you feel.

im 13 too and i am going to get a dog. but you have got to explain to her that she needs to let go of your old dog and it will be good for her to have a little one by you guy's side.

once you get older and get your own place, then you can get whatever you want.. while under your parents roof, if they say no, just deal with it and keep it moving.. gettin frustrated because your mom wont let you get another dog isnt the end of the world..

Cheap dogs often means expensive vet bills. The 'cheapest' dog would be one that has a very expensive initial price because its parents are show dogs, have been health tested and puppies raised by experienced breeders. There is more to owning a dog than giving it cuddles and taking it for walks. If anyone in your household does not want a dog then you can't have one, it's not fair on the dog.

my whole family wants a dog but my dad won't let us so we actuaally have the same problem this happens to most people though! parents think we irrresponsible parents don't know nothing! they just don't understand!
