  1. I was attacked by one, a giant one and it ate my foot but it was nice!

  2. 1. Yes they are nice and cute and cuddly, but their niceness is directly proportional to the owner's love towards them. If you play with them daily and handle them nicely, they will trust you and bond with you well.

    2. They sleep as much as other hamsters / nocturnal rodents. They mostly sleep during the day and are active in the late evening and night. You can train them to be active for a couple of hours every evening by playing with them during that same time everyday.

    3. No, they are the smallest of the dwarfs and grow upto a max of 3 inches in length

4.Dwarf hamsters can live together if they are from the same litter or have been introduced at the same young age.If they are not from the same litter or have an age difference, they can fight too. In a few rare cases, litter mates can also viciously fight since one might decide to have the "dominate" character over the other.

  3. 1. Dwarf hamsters can be nice, but are more likely to bite than Syrian's

    2. They sleep during the day and stay up all night. That may be a problem for you, I always put my cages out of my room so I can sleep.

    3. Dwarf hamsters stay very small. They grow to be about 3.5 - 4 inches when adult.

    4. It is possible that they will not fight, but most likely will. Mine did and many others had to separate them. If you are going to put two together, you have to make sure that they grew up with one another or they will fight one another.

  4. They are nice as long as you take good care of them. Be careful handling them, they can bite if they feel threatened. They sleep just as much as any other animal or pet. No they don't get very big at all. Roughly the size of a golf ball if not slightly bigger when the roll up. You can put more than one in a cage, but if you have a female that is pregnant, you will need to separate the mother and it's off-springs, otherwise they other hamsters may eat it.

  5. when you get them young and hand tame them, yes they can be sweet. males tend to be sweeter than females.

they sleep from 8 am to 7 pm

they grow 3-4 inches long, half the size of a syrian.

males can get along in a large cage. females will fight.

  6. They can be nice if they are gently handled a lot. the faster ones are less enjoyable to hold because they can get away.

They sleep during the day and are active during the night. Old or very young hamsters will sleep more. It will seem like they sleep a lot because they aren't awake while you are, but they DO spend half the day awake.

Most dwarf hamsters (from experience) are no longer than 3 inches, but every now and then there will be the big hamster.

Most females (and males owned by experienced people) raised together since birth or a VERY young age will get along. If you want more than one, consider getting mice. SOME males will be able to get along with their brothers, but if they fight they need to be separated. Males can never be housed with females (unless you're breeding). Males will mate with any female, whether it's their sister, mother, or cousin.

  7. 1. it depends on the hamster (kind of like dogs)

    2. they are nocturnal, so they will sleep during the day, coming out approximatly every two hours to eat and drink

    3. mine is about 3 in. long

4 they DO NOT get along. i started off with 2 litter mates and they were fine for the first day and they they started biting each other. not playfully either. so i would definetly recomend only getting one.

    hope this helps! good luck!

  8. i have 2 dwarf hamsters in the same cage and they do just fine. but iv'e heard that putting 2 hamsters from the same litter of the same breed will usually make them fight. i recommend chinese dwarf. they are the sweetest in my opinion. just be sure not to get a plastic cage as they like to chew! my dwarfs are no bigger than 4 inches long and are full grown. my STRONGEST recommendation is getting a silent wheel, because since they are nocturnal, they will drive you nuts and you don't want to take the wheel from them since the mostly run at night and need a wheel because dwarves are the most active of all hamsters.

  9. 1.they are okay they can bite a bit

2not they sleep during the day and wake up about 10:00pm

3 lol they are so tinny!!

4yeah you can get more than 1  dwarf hamsters but not other kinds of hamsters

  10. 1. Yes they are very nice if you handle them alot. If you handle them alot and treat them right they can be the sweetest little thing but if you don't, they can start biting and not being so nice.

    2. Yes they do sleep alot. Well hamsters sleep during the da so we see them sleeping alot, but hey start getting very active at night. So if you have the hamster in your room, it might be nice to have a silent wheel!

    3. No they stall nice and small. I like the size of the dwarf hamster!

    4. They can get along with other hamsters if they have always been together. However, on the same note it really depends. i had 2 boy hamsters in the same cage when they were babies since i separated the males and females(i raised a litter of 6 hamsters). And one night they started fighting really bad!  Both were covered in blood. i successfully separated them, but it shows that not all hamsters (even if they grew up together) get along. Just be careful and moniter them!

Good Luck!    Hamsters are very sweet and easy to take care of animals. I loved having them. Also try to buy an excercise ball! They LOVE it!

  11. I just bought myself a dwarf hamster about a week ago.  She is adorable for sure!  She does seem to sleep a lot.  I am at work during the day and when I get home, sometimes she is awake, and other days she wakes up later in the evening.  She is very friendly and loves to be taken out of her cage.  She eagerly climbs into my hand to be picked up.  I was told she might get a little fatter as she gets older, but probably not much bigger than she is now.  I chose to just buy one because I've had experience with critters in the past where they fight and since I've heard so often that hammies are solitary critters, they are fine on their own.  She seems very happy so far.  I make sure to give her lots of attention while she is awake.  The only way to really know for sure if two hammies can live together is to try it, but as soon as you see them fight, I would separate them into their own cages.
