I would pick Morton's too. It is expensive but worth it! Don't take him to Outback for his birthday (Outback is good but not really a special birthday place).

From personal experience, Ruth Chris Morton's are both excellent steak houses, but as others have noted, expensive but worth every penny. For a special meal, like a birthday, either are great picks. You can also google "best steakhouse in philly" and the top link will give to you the top 7 steakhouses in philly with a brief description of each restaurant and what they feature.

The Prime Rib and Ruth's Chris are both very good, but VERY expen$ive.

I've heard Mortons' is also good, but haven't been there.

If you're looking for less expensive, LongHorn and Texas Roadhouse are both good for the price...
