You can use "regular" fabric with good results. Most people use bright green or bright blue. Two things to keep in mind:

1) Get non-reflective fabric (shiny polyester is right out) to avoid "spill effect".

2) Make sure no one is wearing a similar color to the screen color

Another helpful hint is to make your actor stand at least 4' from the background, this helps to avoid shadows that makes the software have difficulty in doing a solid key.
