I really want a hamster and I wanted one a while ago but before, my mom said that I am not responsible enough but within the past year I have become more responsible so I'm wondering how much a hamster would cost as in>>>

The hamster itself

The cage

The cage bedding

The food

The little water-bottle thingy

The wooden chew toys

So if you know could you please tell me? Because I kind of want to save up for a hamster.

  1. it all depends where u get them at. i do know that petco has hamsters for $10,and at petsmart they have them for about $20. the prices of the cages r different, it depends on the brand. i got mine from $20-$25.

(the water bottle come w/ the cage). the price of the bedding, food, and toys depends on what brand and such. i'm sorry i can't help u with those.

    hope this helps!!!

  2. $5-6 or higher depending on where you go in england i got 2 dwarfs for £12 from pets at home

  3. well i got my hamster as a present so im sorry im not sure the total cost. but the hamster itself is around $6.00. youd have to go to the pet store where youre going to get the hamster.

  4. ABOUT 70 OR 50

  5. i would go to the store where you want to get it from's website & look up the exact cage you want, food, watter bottle, etc. that way youll know the exact amount.

  6. Dependin on the type of housing, ~$50 and up

  7. i was thinking about buying a hamster, so i did a little bit of research.

the hamster can be bought for anywhere between 15-30 dollars itself.

the cage will typically be about 49.99 at stores like petco or petsmart.  a big bag of bedding runs around 8 bucks.  the food, im sorry i wouldnt know.  the water battle is like 4 dollars.  and im sure you can buy 2 or 3 toys for 10 bucks.  I was gonna get a hamster....but since my moms muslim, its not allowed....but instead i got a snake!  best pet ever.  but if you want a hamster go for it.  i wouldnt suggest buying it from anywhere aside from petco or petsmart, because other places they dont always handle the pets and it becomes a bit agressive so those big chain petstores will always be the best.  hope this helped.

  8. .

    1. Hamster - Black bear/Dalmation $15-25  Normal shorthair/long hair $7-10

    2. Cage - $30-50

    3. Food $4-7

    4. Bedding $3-5

    5. Almost all cages come with a water bottle but $3

    6. Toys are $2-10

  9. hamster - $7 or up like $10

    cage - around $30 - $50

bedding - (get aspen it is not dangerous for hamsters like the others are) around $20 dollars for a big bag and about $10- $15 for a small one

    Food - around $5 - $10

    water bottle - $5 - $8

    chew toys - $2- $5 at walmart.

  10. 20 to 30 for hamster

depending on size 30 to 40 on cage

    under 15 for bedding

    same on everything else

but this is only an estimate guess

  11. the hamster is between 8 & 15 dollars depending on the variety of hamster you get.  Get that at the pet shop.  But the rest of your things can be bought MUCH cheaper at somewhere like wal-mart.  You're probably talking around $60 at the most.

  12. the hamster will cost between $5 and $15 depending on the type of hamster you get, dwarf hamsters tend to be cheaper.

the cage will cost between $20 and $50, but get the biggest one you can afford, even if you think its ridiculous

the bedding costs around $20 usually

the food costs between $10 and $15 dollars depending on the brand and the size of the bag

the water bottle is usually around $10

the wooden chew toys cost around $7

but dont just go for the cheapest thing, make sure whatever youre buying has quality too

  13. Hamster - £5 - £6

    Cage - £40 - £50

    Bedding £2+

    Food £2+

Water bottle - Normally come with cage but otherwise about £4

    Wooden chew toys - £3

Of course, it all depends on the store you get the things from, and which type of things you get. and if you r in the uk or not!!!

    Good Luck! =)

  14. The hamster itself: go to a local breeder and not just petco or petsmart, they just ship them in in dozens. Go to a small pet shop. Around 7 to 10 dollars.

The cage: Shop around and read reviews I would suggest a crittertrail or habbittrail cage system they are closer to 30 dollars but just go on ebay and you can get some great deals.

The cage bedding; Aspen bedding is the best bedding because it does not cause allergies and has little sawdust which can cause eye irratation. Around 15 dollars for a large bag, but the bags are really stuffed.

The food: I get lab blocks and a seed mix, the blocks are pricer but give a completely balanced diet. for five lbs bags, 9 for lab blocks and 5 or 6 for the seed mix.

The little water-bottle thingy: Most come with the cage but normally around 3 or 4 dollars.

The wooden chew toys: My hamsters don't like these but around 2 or 3 dollars.

I hope this helps. Originally I spent 100 dollars on my first hamster, it was well worth it though!

Hamsters are a nocturnal member of the rodent family. There are a variety of hamster breeds that are distinguished by color, markings, size and personality.

    Typical costs:

        * Adult Syrian hamsters are about 6-inches long and have been bred for a variety of colors and run $5 -$20 each. They are territorial and should be kept one to a cage. They live 2 to 3years.

        * Full-grown Dwarf hamsters reach only 2-3 inches long and cost $4 -$13. They are often sold in pairs for around $20. They live around 1 and a half years.

        * Robvorski Hamsters are small even for dwarfs at 1-2 inches and cost $13 -$30. They have an easygoing temperament, but are very fast and difficult to catch.

    Additional costs:

        * Hamsters thrive best in open-air cages which run from $30 -$50.

        * Pine or cedar litter can cause respiratory problems, so hamster owners use either Aspen shavings that run about $3.50 per bag, or Carefresh--a recycled newspaper product priced around $5, to line the cage bottom. Hamsters will pick a specific corner of the cage to use for droppings, which should be spot cleaned daily. The entire bedding material should be changed out once a week for a monthly cost of $14 -$20. The Human Society website gives tips on hamster care.

        * Basic hamster food mix runs $5 -$6 per 2-pound bag, which should last about a month. Water bottles cost around $2.

        * Carriers for outings run $10 -$16.

        * Hamsters exercise at night and may run several miles on rotating wheels that cost $4 to $20.
