  1. never seen why one would want a four wheel drive and then drive it on the street.. sucks gas rides rough handles poor than any car or truck.. and any jeep would work

  2. Do you have a need for a true off road vehicle, or is this just for on the road/dirt road/bad weather type of thing?

If you do plan to go off roading, the Jeep is fine - whether to get the 4 door or 2 depends on your needs - if you don't carry people in the back seat much I'd get the 2 door, the drivers comfort won't be changed much (perhaps slightly smoother ride). I would also consider the Nissan Exterra before settling on the Jeep - it has true off road capabilities, but is more civilized on the road, and has much more power.

If you don't need an off road vehicle - buy something else. As an on road vehicle, the Jeep leaves a lot to be desired - it is relatively slow, sucks on gas, and doesn't ride or handle very well. Chrysler products have not been very reliable over the past few years either, although this is offset by the lifetime powertrain warranty if you're buying new. If a "soft roader" would meet your needs, consider a Nissan Rogue, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4. Even with 4 cylinder engines they'll be quicker and get much better mileage than a Wrangler and most likely be more reliable. They will also ride and handle MUCH better on the road.

    hope this helps
