  1. A lot.

Look up caresheets on the internet. At this website there is a bunch for different breeds of snakes - http://ball-pythons.net/modules.php?name...

A corn snake is a good starter snake - if you are willing to put more time into it a ball python makes a good pet too.

  2. It depends on the type of snake i would advice you to get a royal python otherwise known as a ball python for that you need it needs when tiny rat pups which are smaller than rats obviously not mice quite yet then when he is a little older then move on to mice they are the next size up the bottom of the tank can either be bark or gravel of your choice i advice gravel but it shouldn't make too much difference you will need a way of supplying heat you can use a heat lamp if it is in a big tank or a mat if in a small plastic one (bigger the better) with the lamp he has a direct heat spot and a cooler place you want your temp to be from 80-90 directly under the lamp may be slightly hotter 90-95 any higher turn it down! around the back opposite the lamp it may be cooler 80(farren height) i have a boy but it doesn't matter what gender you get they will tell you when you go to buy it worry you will also need a water dish that you chang every often ok!? you will need to feed it once a week keep to the routine it had in the shop don't handle him until 2-3 days after its been fed and apart from those days handle him every day i hope i helped any other questions ask me at (x_nikkinicinoonack_x@hotmail.com)or  ask when you go and buy your snake

  3. Depends. what do you like?

they eat all sorts of things mostly rats and mice though

  4. Snakes don't come in breeds like dogs do, they come in species, and to suggest you an appropriate species I would need to know what you're looking for in a snake(size, ease of care, etc.) Also, with the main exception of garter snakes, almost all will eat mice or rat.

First snake I'd suggest for you is a Corn Snake, they are easy to care for, easily handled, not that large but not too small, come in A LOT of varieties, are cheap to purchase, and eat mice. I recommend completely reading this article on their history and care:

Next snake I'd suggest is a Ball Python, they're very similar to Corn Snakes in care, have a very laid back temperament, are also relatively small but roughly twice as thick as corn snakes, they mostly eat mice but adults may eat rats. The only reason I put them below Corn Snakes is because they are notoriously picky eaters, they sometimes go on hunger strikes and it can be very frustrating. I recommend completely reading this article on their history and care:
