  1. Call your nearest petstation, preferraby petco or petsmart and ask then if they have any cornsnakes if they do, go there or ask on the phone and and find the price its probrably less than 50 dollars.

But youd have to get the extra stuff wich is about 50 dollars more.

  2. Try your local animal shelter.  There's less of a selection, but they tend to be cheaper (just an adoption fee).  Plus, this way you both benefit.  Most animal shelters will not sell untamed snakes, the same cannot be said about pet stores.  Hope this helps.

  3. id say corn snake becuase they are smaller and they have many different colors for CHEAP!!! im guessing ball python, corn snake, and boas are the most common snakes because thats what everyone mentioned, and thoes are the ones i want! lol. i wouldnt get a boa yet becuase they do get bigger then you might want and corn snakes have a reputation for being easy to care for. If you want a meaty constrictor like me id say get a ball python.

and all of the snakes i listed are cheap. Normal ball pythons are around $30, normal corn snakes can be found for $20 (morphs go from 30-100 and probably higher, but way cheaper then any other kind of snake morph) and i think ive seen red tails online for $120 or so but im not sure what it should be. I hear red tails need custom enclosures so yeah... that may be a problem for you.  And it will cost alot for all the stuff you need like tank,  heat source, and food. other stuff can be reletivley cheap or free. (hide box, water bowl substrate.)

hope this helped, email me for any more questions

and for the lord jesus (haha) please do research if you havent yet. i hate people like that. We dont want any mistreated animals here...

(if anyone cares i want a ball python (love pastels), reverse okeetee corn snake, blizzard corn snake, red tail boa or anery boa. I would go with other morphs but theyre just to expensive for me - BP and boa that is).

  4. first of all DO NOT buy from petco or petsmart...unfortunately their pets aren't the healthiest.  you can get "cheap" snakes i'm sure but they wont exactly be healthy.  about the cheapest cornsnake you will find will be like $39.00 and the cheapest red tail will be about $150.00.  the enclosure for either one of them will be $100.00 or so (maybe a little more).

the snakes that you are interested in require different living environments (sp) so do the research on both snakes and decide which one you want then buy the stuff you will need for the enclosure and get the enclosure set up and then get your snake...that way you dont have to buy everything at once.

you might try reptile rescues...they might have a snake you want.  they usually charge an adoption fee but its not usually more than $50.00 - $100.00

  5. dang a red tail boa or corn snake? thats going from 8+ foot to 2 1/2 feet, wow you should get a ball python they are perfect snakes

  6. if you are worried about the initial cost of buying any animal especially a snake, i think ya need to hold off on getting one.  all snakes cost money some more than others but there is going to be cost for the entirety of you having the animal.  for an ex.  bedding changes, light replacements, heater replacements and disease control.  snakes that are taken out of there enclosures can get mites pretty easy.  just some things to think about.  this is not meant to discourage you.

  7. im sorry but i have to dissagree with austin. If your thinking about getting a snake you are looking into a long term commitment and do not want to buy from a pet shop. Most pet shops cary wild snakes or captive born snakes which is just a trick into making you think that they are captive. always buy from a breeder, reptile show, or online. You do not want a sick snake. fight the temtation of buying your snake from a local pet shop. wait it out. Money shouldnt be the problem if you are buying from a source i listed these reptiles are much cheaper than pet shop reptiles.

  8. Really? I don't consider $30 for a corn snake or $50 for a boa to be expensive. You need to find a breeder, preferably a reptile expo. Pet stores are way to expensive. I still can't belive it when I walk into a pet store and I see a California kingsnake selling for $99.99, when I sell the same thing for $30, and mine are healthier.

  9. How much are you looking to spend on the snake?

Snakes are by no means cheap to keep and the snake + the set-up alone WILL cost you 100+ dollars and that would be a pretty bare set-up and a cheap corn snake

A redtail boa is a large snake and the set-up and snake  will be more expensive than 200+

That does not include the cost of the food for the snake. The only way to find a snake cheaper than usual is to hunt out sites and try and find the lowest price among breeders. Realise that if you purchase a snake online it should be eating already and that shipping will have to be overnight and run you 50 dollars.

kingsnake.com has classifieds you can check, if you can't afford what they have listed well you just really can't afford a snake because that's about as low as it ever gets.
