  1. First of all, don't have any alcohol before you go in! Alcohol thins your blood, so unless you want to bleed like a stuck pig, I would suggest finding another way to deal with your nerves. :)

Find a good clean place to have your tattoo done and flip through the artists' work. Make sure you are comfortable with the artist who will be tattooing you. The better you get along, chances are you will be less nervous.

Tattoos hurt and nothing can change that. However, the fattier the location, the less it will hurt. You could always choose another area to be tattooed if you would like it to hurt less.

Good luck. You will be fine!

  2. Well...part of the appeal of getting tattooed (aside from having the design forever) is going through the pain as a "right of passage" if you will.

It does hurt...some places more than others. Just stay away from real bony areas and stick to fleshy areas. When it's all done, it will feel like a bad sunburn.

I just got one as a reward to myself for putting up with an illness for the past 4 years. Sure, parts of it hurt, but that is long in the past. Look at it this way...it is temporary pain for a lifetime thing.

  3. well im 14 and i just about 2 weeks ago got a homemade tattoo....

and i mean it hurts but its not pain you can't take.... just make sure they are using brand new needles....

and trust me.... it all worth it...

  6. I hate shots and I almost hyperventilate everytime I get one, but being pierced or tattooed doesn't bother me at all. You will be fine. If you want one, you can either suck it up and deal with it, or don't.

  7. Bad idea. Never set a date that you have to decide to get a tattoo by.

I understand that you want one because you can legally get one, but that is no reason to rush out and get one immediately! Chances are you will end up getting a piece of flash, and you will completely regret it later.

I cannot stress how much you need to wait before you do this. You need to come up with your own design, or find one you like before you go to the tattoo parlor. Chances are, no one on Y!A is going to have a clue what you want.

Two weeks is not enough time to make this life-altering decision. Have you considered that your stomach stretches over time? Ever heard of babies? Yeah, they happen. If you get those stars you are talking about, they will probably stretch out.

Once again, if you are afraid of the pain, and don't know what you want, it's simple: Wait.

No one is forcing you to get a tattoo on your vacation.

  8. Sadly the pain is all part of the process and if you cannot face it or accept it as all part of the experience then I would advise not getting one at all.  I can assure you it will make the tattoo artists job a million times harder if you are crying, squealing etc...you need to be calm and sit still so they can get on with their work and not risk ruining the tattoo.  I would not advise drinking, any decent artist would turn you away if you are drunk, or if they can smell alcohol from you.  I would seriously re-think this one if you do not think you can sit still and handle the pain.

  9. I would get it on your stomach because you may get pregnant someday and it will look like h**l, Don't worry tattooing is fun.

  10. The fear of needles shouldn't be a problem - it's usually the sight of them that sets people off but a tattoo is not applied with a single needle. The tattoo gun, though it contains needles, does not look like anything to be afraid of - it's like a big motorised pen.

    Good luck!

  11. if your scared of needles, maybe a tattoo is not for you :)

tattoos on thin skin, bone and muscle hurt the most.. such as spine, ribs and ankles..

tattoos on fatty areas hurt less, such as lower back and butt.

where ever you get it, its going to hurt, no matter what people tell you, it will. speaking from a heavily inked chick, you should think carefully b4 u decide on a design, does it have meaning to you etc..

if you get a tatt on your tummy, it will stretch if you get pregnant, which will in turn distort your design.. the back and ankles rarely stretch..

there is nothing you can do to really lessen the pain etc.. except talking to the artist or listening to music helps some ppl. dont take panadol as it makes you bleed more, same with alcohol.

for tattoo designs search tattoo johnny or tattoo finder.. they have some awesome star tatts.. :)

if u need anymore help just ask, my mums a tatt artist so i can give ya some hints..

    xo

  12. Apart from a stiff drink before you go in, there's not much you can do. It doesn't hurt as much as you think, but if you choose to have it on a bone it will hurt more than on fatty parts. I'd maybe go for one star rather than a lot so you can see if you can manage the pain. Make sure you tell the tattooist that you're a little scared and it should be ok.

Picture is of a pretty group of stars :)

  13. If you want one that bad then you will go through with it.

    good luck

it ill we worth it !

  14. sounds like a great idea and nice place to get it as well. I have 4 tattoos and i c**p myself every time. I have been known to be sick!! but once I'm in the chair and they get started I'm fine if feels like someone is scratching you with the tip of a paper clip. Dont get me wrong it hursts but is a very bearable pain also i dont know if its just me but the outline seems to hurt a little more then when the color the inside thinks its something to do with the size of the needles. Good luck i bet it looks hot (take a good friend so they can try and calm you down before they start)  Also is you get it that low down on your tum just above your pubic line it wont stretch when you have kids!
