I want a Teddy Bear hamster for my birthday. My dad is fine with it and my mom doesn't really want to let me. She said we would talk about it, so how do i convince her? I really want one!

PS I am very responsible and I will probably bring that up in our conversation.

  1. Well for starters, how about trying the following:

#1 Cleaning your room and making sure that it STAYS clean and tidy.

#2 Making sure that your homework is done and handed in on time.

#3 Sweep the floors in the living room and kitchen without your parents asking you to.

#4 Wash and/or dry the dishes.

#5 Do not fight and argue with your sisters & brothers.

#6 Eat what you are given and don't whine or make "yuck" faces when given it.

#7 Don't talk rudly to adults

#8  Always share with other kids.

#9 Go to bed when you are told to.

#10 Research the pet and breed you want to be 100% certain that it is the right one for you.

    # 11 Ask them about getting this new pet in a nice way and don't beg and whine about it.

If 100% sure that if you give those a try, they will see that you are serious about wanting to add a this pet to your life and family. :)

  2. I have a teddy bear hamster tell her to let you get one as a trial run for a week if she doesn't like then you can give it back to the humane society.(she will end up falling in ove with it like my mom did)

p.s. they are nocturnal so you can only play with them 9:30pm til 5am

  3. i had one, but they die really is easily, and they're not that smart. mine ate a marble, and after we paid for an expensive surgery for it, it stopped eating and died. but they r fun and cuddly! hope it all works out for u!!

  4. hamsters are easy pets to look after and i had a couple hamsters to live to 4-5 years and there average year span is 3-4 so you might be lucky and get one ( if you look after it well ) to live longer. you have ot clean the cage about once a week, and let it run in a hamster abll at least a few times a week or buy a wheel for the cage. fill the water up everyday and the food when it gets low. hamsters love to climb through tubs and loft in little attachones you can buy. so i owuld buy a cage where you can attach tubes on it and then put little attach ons on it. tlak to it and pet is everyday and dont put to together.. because when they get older they will odds are ifght with eachother and/or have kids.. hamster love to chew so make sure they have hard stuff to chew on and soft.. hard stuff for their teeth it makes them not long and shaprend the.. and soft to clean their teeth and to play with. hamsters also love to climb so put some things in their cage that they can play and climb on.. i would pefer ( this is what i o with my hamster ) attach 2 cages together with tubes and attatchments on it.. hamsters will love it.. hamsters chew like i said so they iwll probably 99% of the time chew on the mettal bars on the cage, so make sure you put it a place where it wont desturb anyone and still gets lots of attention.. over all hamsters are awesome little creatures and i think i iwll own one for almost the rest of my life..  P.S hamsters love fresh veggies and friuts like little peices of apples and carrots.. and DONT give them cellery or lettuse or green peppers or omions ( you know really juicy/acidy/stringy foods ) hamsters love plain sun flower seeds ( not salted or toasted ect.. ) and you cant squeese them at all.. you have to just put your fungers under neath them by their chest and pick them up then hold them in your hands... if you have any questions about hamsters or any animal then email me brent_beatty04@hotmail.com have fun with your little guy if you get him.. and tel lyour mom how easy it is to take care of one.. and they dont take up any room in your house.. ( uless you buy 10 cages and thousands of tunes and put them all together ;) ) have fun

  5. Research all about teddy bear hamsters . Then after you have all of the information make a little pamplet all about them. If she says no then just say well i did all this research for nothing. If that does not work tell her that even though it would be for your birthday you would still pay for half the supplies half the hamster ect. It would keep you entertained for a longggggggggg time.

  6. If dad's ok with it, mom will be too, if you can just get dad to pull for you on this. Also, if you've never had a hamster before, it would be a real good idea to find a good book about them and study up a little so you will be better prepared to take care of one.... and it will show your parents that you are truly ready to be a responsible pet owner. A couple of things to keep in mind... every hammy must have his wheel! And they love to stay up and play on it at night, so be prepared for a little noise (most wheels are squeaky). Also, it's very important to keep a clean cage for them (they get sick easily), so you will need to commit to doing clean-up duty on a daily basis. I found this to be one of the funner parts of having a hamster (my first pet) because he would act like he was all happy when I got done cleaning and "fluffing" his cage. He lived for 4 years! Be careful, if you get one, to keep it from getting loose because they run and hide and they're hard to catch. Just remembering back on my first little pet ("BeeBee") brings a smile to my heart. I loved that little guy, and we had a lot of fun together (he never bit me once). Now, I want one too!!!! I really hope your mom cave's on this one!

  7. go to your local library, bookstore, petstore & get books on them, study about them, & you can impress your mom by showing her that you took your time to read up on them about thier moods, types of food, etc.

my sister has 2 teddy bear hamsters & i have to admit they are cuddly little things! =)

    good luck! =)

  8. she'll probably let you have one, they're inexpensive and teach responsibility.

edit: tell your mom she never has to touch or look at it it'll be in your care and she'll never end up feeding it or cleaning its cage.
