  1. Thrift stores and yard sales! Find a piece or two you like and then it's off to Walmart for the sanding equipment and new paint! Then if you want to spend a little more I would put the money on a brand new mirror and chair to go with your new look!

  2. Okay

well, the obvious question is what style? are you into minimalism, shabby chic, contemporary??? anyway, i'll have a go,

    1. flea markets or charity stores for a cheapie that you can paint, it can be hard to imagine but some ugly dark wood pieces can look great painted white with new handles on them

    2. Ebay of course

    3. A floating shelf like one of these ($26 to $99) ... http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/produc... though it will need painting but has room under for storage

    or this one

http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/produc... requires brackets and only 28cm deep

    or this one

http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/produc... also only 28cm deep but also has room under for storage

and this is all of their shelves

  3. Go to a thrift store and buy two matching night stands with drawers = add a top = attach a mirror - or hang one on the wall above = paint everything white - there you go = cheap and easy

Vanity: Two old night tables are joined by nailing or s******g in a top and back (can be plywood or particle board).  An old mirror frame is screwed into the top and painted white

Have you thought about an old desk - you'd have the drawers - and a spot for a chair - painted up white - add a mirror - buy three cheap mirrors - and add hinges to the back to give you the "fashionable" vanity look - mount the center mirror to the wall leaving the two side mirrors to swing into place.  You will want to have sconces - on each side for correct lighting or two matching small table lamps - add some fringe to the shades for a real victorian vanity look.
