Question:

I want contacts but I can't put them in...any help?

I've tried to wear contacts before but when i was at the opticians and they tried to put them in for me ( I tried myself too), my eye automatically kept closing.

I'm 16 and worn glasses since i was 3, my prescription is bad enough that I'll always have to wear something but I am able to get contacts to that prescription.

I'm going to a new school in the fall and it would be nice to be able to ditch the glasses - at least for some days.

Does anyone have any help regarding how to counteract the fact that my eyes immediately close? - has anyone else experienced this at all and how did they solve it?

Thankyou! :)

  1. When i first got contacts, it literally took me 20 minutes per eye to get them in. Now i just pop em in in the morning. The trick is to put an extra drop of solution on the lens, and hold your eyelids open so that they dont close. With the extra drop of solution, they should just suck right onto your eye! Dont give up, it takes a little to get used to them. Good luck!

  2. I have been wearing contacts on and off for about three years and I still sometimes have trouble getting them in. What worked for me is using a mirror. The trick is too stare at your reflection and not at the act of you putting in the contact. It took me a couple of times before I got used to it. And make sure your nails are trimmed low. Hope that works.

  3. I would suggest trying contacts again and to be persistent. Don't give up right away. It may take a while for you to learn not to close your eyes, but in the end it will be worth it. Make sure to keep trying with the contacts, no matter what.

Eventually, your problem will go away if you keep working at it.

Contacts are definitely worth the trouble that you go through at first. I have worn them for about a year and a half.

Good luck and hope I helped.

  4. Well, what I do is hold my eyelids open and stare at myself. Then when I put in the contact, I take a deep breath and squeeze something ( the contact is cold so its hard to not blink, the squeezing helps. Actually, I end up squeezing my head, lol)

  5. I need glasses but I wanted contacts and I got them and had the same problem as you what I did is I went to my eye doctor and she showed me how to put them in it helped now I can put them in no problem I suggest you do that.

    Hope I helped.
