but after sometimes he became the king of the twelve tribes of israel..

At the time that David was King, the Judah and Israel were united and was called Israel.  He was a descendant of Judah - one of the 12 sons of Jacob who was also called Israel.  The nation split into Israel and Judah after David's son Solomon's reign.

David was not King of Babylon.
