The best information I can give you is that these types of plans are seldom worth the money you put into them.  Roughly only 2% of Accidental Death and Dismemberment (which is what I assume you're talking about) actually pay out a claim.  Chances of being in a accident are slim, but realisistic

You're far better off spending the actual money to purchase more life insurance, long term care, disibility and critical illness insurance (which pays out if paralyzed or you lose 2 or more limbs) becuase they provide coverage whether it's accidental or not.  Critical illness insurance also covers far more things than AD&D.
