It's basically a comprehensive exam that tests your skills in your basic education subjects such as english, reading, mathematics, science and history. It gives colleges an idea of where you stand academically. Some colleges have a minimum score they will accept for admission. The higher the score, the better your chances of getting a scholarship. I think the highest you can make is a 36. You can take it as many times as you would like. I took it 3 times. You can buy several study books for it as well.
