  1. It depends on what your importing. You first need to be accepted into Australia first and we have a lot of importing businesses already and with the advent of eBay things are getting harder.

    So step one is apply to get a working visa or the like. Maybe even citizenship. Your English seems reasonable so unless that was a typo up there you should have no issues.

    Secondly, you'd probably want to do a short business management course through our education institution (TAFE) they are about $600 and you can do different levels of education I.E certificate 1, 2, 3, 4, diploma and this will help. Dependant on what level you do depends on time spent studying it. They range from 6 months through to 2 years. It would be a huge help because they can teach you how things work over here and will even get you contacts in the industry.

    And help you learn the ins and outs, and the laws.

    The cost of starting is cheap dependent on what you want to import. You'll need an ABN and tax file number and a bank account. All are easily acquired.

    If you google our ATO (australian taxation office) this will give you a little insight and provide you with links to how to get a business started.

    Also the book called "business for dummies" or look up the dummies series of books you'll be able to begin by reading on your flight over about how to start. This book is V good.
