For travel use the railroad with Eurailpass! Depends on how economic and the level of luxury or lack thereof, you can use youth hostels in almost every larger city. Need a youth hostel pass you can buy at any youth hostel. Sometimes there might be an age limit. In every town there is a Reisebuero (travel agency or city agency) that usually has a brochure of hotels and B&B's and hostels that lists the accomodations and quality and price. Very informative and helpful!

June Through September bring Very nice weather. Watch out many of the Hotels don't have air conditioning
