I have one child already and was thinking about maybe adopted a child. I live in California and have NO clue where to look, or what websites. Does anyone have any clue where to start? I'm also curious what the cost is, any idea?

  1. Hi - Here are some sites to try:

    www.adoptuskids.org

    www.precious.org

www.hannahsprayer.org (Go to the Adoption Forum)

If you want to adopt through foster care, just call the local CPS office and they'll point you in the right direction.

    KUDOS to you! :)

  2. Try www.adoption.com   this website has lots of useful information and even pics of children waiting for adoption.

  3. OMG!! im adopted and dont take this badly but u kind of talk about adopting a kid like adopting a dog....being a foster child was the most painful experience i have ever been in...no one wants an older kid..everyone wants a baby...(they have less problems) but really.....all i ever wanted was to get out of my abusive foster home...and the only reason i was in foster care was because my mom neglected me and my siblings and abused the c**p out of us, almost killing my little baby sister....and i didnt need to be in that kind of home that was supposed to protect me...but i was young and no one would listen to me....there is no cost..just a **** load of paper work..and depending on where u live, its different in every state.....but i am happy u want to adopt...maybe u wont have the joy of being pregnant but it will help o child in need of love...im 14 now and adopted....i would never want someone to go through what i did...and to tell u this..its not going to be eazy.....u have a long ride ahead of u.  (please dont go to africa and get a baby..we have baby's is america in need of a home)

  4. it completey depends on what type of adoption you are looking for.  i would start with your local foster care, they have classes and many children that need stable, loving homes.  often the cost through the state is none.

if you are wanting to do a private, domestic or international adoption.  you're going to have to do a lot of research on your own.  tons of it.  make sure the agency or attorney you go with not only protects the legal side of things but that it's an ethical adoption.  know that the mother of the child you are adopting has been given every option available to her and the father and that they still want to place.  the cost for a private adoption can vary from 6,000-35,000.

it will all depend on what you choose.  i would research everything adoption you possibly can before committing one way or another.

  5. Try getting information about foster care. I went to a class about this and they give me the option of adopting also. The class is free and almost everything is free. A foster mom gave the information and also it should not cost you a thing. Ughh I wish I had more information. I will look for it tomorrow and email you with more info.

  6. I have adopted twice now.  It runs approximately 15K for everything.  You can go to www.adoptionhelp.org.  It is the company I used both times.

  7. check out adoptionhelp.org They are wonderful to work with and very friendly. They specialize in domestic adoptions and they happen to be reasonable in cost. They allow you to make small payments as you progress through the process. Good Luck!

  8. Go to your human resource building. They will give you all the information you need to know about adoption. Or go to an adoption agency and ask all the questions. They will direct you in the right way.

  9. Great website that was started a few years ago just for people like you!
