  1. seal the box

  2. I read all the answers and was amazed that not one person asked what subs you have.  This is vital to choosing what enclosure is best.  You cannot choose an enclosure without knowing what subs you have.

The reason why this is so important is due to the fact that some subs perform best in certain types of enclosures.  Putting them in the wrong type of enclosure will greatly hinder the performance of the sub.  For example, some FI subs NEED to be put in ported enclosures.  They are not made to be in sealed enclosures.  Putting them in a sealed enclosure will GREATLY effect the sound and could possibly damage the subs.

The previous answers were correct if the sub performs well in both types of enclosures.  Sealed will give you tight, accurate bass while ported will give you more output.  If you are looking for more output then a ported enclosure will be what you should look at (if it works with your sub well).

    Good Luck!!!

  3. all i read look right, Sealed all the way

  4. I'd say for the TIGHT CRISP bass, go SEALED. This helps if you're sub/amp combo is quality. I have a friend with 2 JL 15"s, in a SEALED box, with each sub getting 4 feet of airspace, on a Quantum Audio QCA4000D, which is supposed to be 2000 RMS at 14.4 volts. The amp isn't even that great of an amp, but his $hit POUNDS in the trunk of a Crown Vic. It hits the Low notes better than any vented box I've ever heard. For this to work you HAVE TO have power. If you don't and are just looking for CHEAP Loudness (which you said you want VERY  loud), just go with the biggest vented box you can by.   Just for the fact that "mdc" gave everyone that didn't agree with her incorrect answer a thumbs down, doesn't mean she's right. She says "how no one asks what kind of subs you have", but then doesn't even ask you herself. I don't agree with her statements at all. She says how some subs perform better in a certain enclosure. No ****, but for the Tight Bass you want, SEALED is ALWAYS the way to go.

  5. Make your own. Make sure you seal it very tight and then pack it with polyfiber fill. Glue it, nail it, s***w it, then seal it with silicone. But if you can't make your own get a enclosure that is not ported. Then pack it with polyfill, if it is not already.

  6. sealed boxes are the best

  7. You could always go with a bandpass box.  You don't see many of those these days.   The problem is, all your requirements ... tight, crisp and loud ... are all subjective.  What I may consider tight, crisp and loud may be very different from what you may think.

  8. ok a sealed box is always best the only thing is it all depends on what kinda of car or truck you have how loud you want it how crisp you want it and how much you want to spend. i would go with 2 12's in a sealed box with an amp with a built in crossover to remove all voice from the subs. then get component speakers to replace factory speakers. get a small amp with a crossover to remove all bass from the voice this removes all distortion in sound. to give you a crisp sound cover your entire trunk space with dynamat this removes all vibration from the car and you dont get that rattling sound. i hate that sound. if you have a friend that works with 18 wheelers have him take a few mats of the rubber they use to repair the tires. its the same thing as the dynamat.

  9. What I say is..

Sealed boxes slam more, hit harder.

Ported is deeper, louder and more bass.

If your looking for tight bass, I recommend two 10's in a sealed box. I have two 10" RF P1's in ported boxes and they slam and are very quick. Good response and tight clean bass.
