  1. You cannot make a newborn sleep through the night, nor would you want to.  Babies need to eat often around the clock to grow and thrive.  If you don't want to wake up, your only option is to bottlefeed, and have someone else take over the night feedings.  Which is not, IMO, a good trade-off. (Risking baby's life-long health so you can get a couple extra minutes of sleep.)

  2. A newborn will not sleep through the night!  A newborn needs to eat about every three hours.

  3. my newborn slept through the night! now hes almost 3 and he has never had  a sleeping problem. he was close to 10 lbs at birth and the doctors said he would eat more therefore be able to sleep for longer periods of time.  I also bought a few square, very thin blankets and swaddled him so tight he couldn't get out. A lot of tribes and foreign countries do this as well because babies can wake them selves up with just a simple movement. I would recommend swaddling to any new parent. You have to do it tight though, not so tight it will hurt but just tight enough, you'll know. They might cry for 30 seconds b/c they want to have free hands but as soon as they cry the fall into a deep cozy sleep. It reminds them of being in the womb.

  4. Give it about 3 months and then the baby won't wake you up in the middle of the night anymore.  Newborns have to eat around the clock.

  5. Has no-one ever told you babies wake in the night! There's not a lot that you can do about it.

  6. Sorry - this is what newborns do!!

They need feeding every couple of hours and their digestive systems are still a bit underdeveloped so they are prone to colic (tummy aches).  You'll just have to deal with this for as long as it lasts.

  7. Newborn babies need to eat very 3 hours at least. More often if they breast feed. You should not be upset because you cant sleep through the night. The baby's needs should always come before your own. You have to remember that it wont last forever. So buckle up and realize that long nights are what come with the baby.

  8. A newborn wakes up because he/she needs something. Trying to get your newborn to sleep through is just plain selfish. What is the point of having a baby if you weren't prepared for it. My baby is 7 months, and still isn't sleeping properly. Get used to it.

  9. wait. and concentrate on getting baby to eat more and sleep less during the day. but mostly wait. they do it when they are ready.

  10. Personally, I never had a problem because I breastfed and my baby slept in the same room.  When she woke up to feed, I laid her on the bed next to me and she would fall asleep while feeding.  So the most that I was disturbed from my sleep was for just a few minutes.  Breastfeeding does have benefits.

  11. it would be nice if they would sleep through the night but it's probably not gonna happen until he/she is 3 months old. that's when my daughter first slept through the night and it was no joke 12 hours. i nearly had a heart attack! it was amazing! every since then she's probaly only woken up less than 7 times in the middle of the night and she's almost 18 months old. good luck girl i know it's hard but they need u in the middle of the night and it wont last forever.

  12. Your baby does what he wants to do, not what you want him to do.
