  1. You absolutely have to take a babysitting and first aid/child CPR course.  Most parents would not hire you without this.  If you have absolutely no experience with kids, see if you can spend some time do a bit of volunteer work before you start looking for babysitting jobs, as a lot of parents would be uncomfortable leaving their kids with someone who has never been around kids before.  Be prepared for parents to ask you for references or a criminal background check.  The world is not a safe place anymore, and parents are really careful about whom they trust with their children.  Finally, you will probably have the most success with people who already know you in some way, so I would recommend advertising at your church/place of worship if you have one, at your parents' workplaces if that's allowed, and maybe advertise to your teachers at school.  Good luck!

  2. never fall asleep on the sofa.

be nice to the kids and treat them like little grownups.

make sure you know what time they have to go to bed

if they are allready in bed just go say hi to them so they know who you are and say like ^if you have and promlems i'm just downstairs ok^

or something so they feel safe with you.

    read them a nice story.

if they play up and run around all hyper

ask them to read you a story/ read one with you

they will consentrate on that :D

  3. Take a first aid, infant/child cpr class. Some hospitals or red cross type places also offer babysitting classes to get you used to what to do. Then afterwards start getting your name out in the area. My reccomendation is to NOT advertise on the internet , places like craigslist. Just print up an ad & put it in stores & such & make sure to get to know the families well before just jumping in, for your safety as well as theirs.
