I want something to hook up to my phone line to be able to make and recieve phone calls

I am on dial up where i am. there is nothing else avaliable. I just want something that i can plug into my phone jack that i can hook my computer up to and dial up without the worry of missing a phone call and still being able to recieve them. Satelite internet is avaliable where i am but its way too expensive.

  1. If you get a V.92 version of Modem, then they have two useful features that can be of use to you.

    MOH - Modem on Hold feature.  MOH will allow you to put your dial-up Internet connection on hold when a phone call comes in.  And then, resume surfing after you hang up the call.

    V.92 modems also support Caller-ID.  So when surfing and a call comes in, the caller ID of the incoming call will display on your PC monitor.

    Talk to your ISP to see if the support V.92 modems and MOH.

    For caller ID to work, you still need caller ID subscription activated through your phone company.


  2. You can try a program called Pagoo.  Basically when you are online you can answer the call and know who is calling you and decide if you want to take the call otherwise the call can go to voicemail.  No more busy signals when you are online when someone is calling you.
