I began dancing at the age of 3 taking tap and ballet. By the age of 5 I was on a competition team competing in the Jazz, Tap, and hip hop categories. I was very overwhelmed with so much practice that by the time I was 9 I quit. There is never a day that goes by that I dont regret that. I began taking up dance again at the age of 12 performing with a hip hop competition team. I am now taking a jazz class at a studio and I am the co captain of my HS dance team. I really want to train in dance and become a professional but I cannot afford the classes. What should I do?? This is something I really want and I dont have much more time to be able to compete in competitions since im going to be 18 in 3 years. How can I become a very trained dancer in a short matter of time with no money && not enough classes?

  1. Your best option is to recieve a scholarship in dancing, they will pay for all of your classes and you get to dance for free. You should submit your name to place where they give away scholarships, if you have enough skills and years you might be able to recieve one.

  2. well maybe you could find someone who is involved in a dance career and show them your stuff... start low and you will grow.

  3. First of all don't worry about time. You don't have to become a perfect dancer in 3 years. Just do what you can now, and search for options. Once you turn 18, you'll have alot more options with scholarships, workshops, etc. I also suggest a scholarship. Look for some schools, show them what you got, and DON"T GIVE UP! There are so many options out there for dancers without alot of money. You can also consider finding less expensive (although less challenging) dance classes somewhere other then a dance studio - such as a health or fitness club.Talk to some teachers, directors and/or students at the studio you're at now ( as well as some other studios if you can) and see if they can help. Teachers can be very helpful in recomendations, suggestions, etc. And practice, practice, practice. While your in dance class give it ALL you have, ever minute. Even if you're only taking a couple classes a week, pracitce on your own time as well and really focus on your strenght and flexabily. Do warm ups and stretches ever day ( i suggest looking into pilates stuff, that really helped me!). If you mantain strength and flexibily when you don't spend as much time in class as most students it will help imensly. Most importanly just have fun and keep dancing no matter what anyone else tells you!

  4. Ask your friends or just make up a routine to some songs
