Question:

I want to Install windows Xp pro but my computer doesn't detect any Harddrives, why?

I have a Gateway 5430E 3.2ghz Pentium D

I have windows Vista Installed and i want to put windows xp pro, i already went to Bios and put Cd rom to boot first so i can Install windows, i place the cd in there Windows Set up Starts then when it ask me to where i want to Install windows Xp it Appears not Hard Drives like if wasn't one.

Then i Click cancell windows set up i reboot my computer and start windows vista like I normally do, i don't get it if it doesn't detect any Hard drives why I'm able to use Windows Vista and Log in to it.

Please need lot s of Help, Thanks.

  1. This aint a problem because the windows vista is not allowing you to instal the lower version of windows. You need to format the existing windows to install the downgrade the windows version. It is not the problem with jumper and hardisk, every thing is fine. 


    If you want to use 2 OS on one system then i would recommend you to install the windows 7 on your system. Though you dont have to format the Windows vista.


    Help full tip: Please install the 2nd OS on the other drive
