  1. Your first step is to find an adoption agency or an adoption lawyer. There are several routes to adoption and it can be a long process. You need to make sure your finances are in order and that you are emotionally and physically ready for a child. Remember that someone is going to be picking you to be the parent of their child. It doesn't usually work the other way around. Good luck and I hope it goes well for you.

  2. God has put the desire on your heart to adopt. That is so awesome. That is actually the first step: the desire. Now, do some research. adoptuskids.com has a lot of good info. I don't think they d much with babies, though.

  3. The first thing you need to do is get a home study.  We had ours through Catholic Charities and they were a great support for us.  In fact, they still are and we are not even Catholic.  Bethany Christian Services is another agency you can call, as well as your county Department of Human Services.  A home study costs about $1500.  There really is no way around the fee.  We searched all of our options and this is the going rate.  If you are thinking of an international adoption, even if you do not have a child or nation in mind, its helpful to file an I600A with immigration and that will cost around $750 and will be filed by you after the homestudy is complete.  Your agency will help you with it.  If you are thinking domestically, you might consider adopting out of the foster care system.  It costs a lot less than a private adoption.

    Hope that helps.

  4. A home study will be ur 1st step.

  5. That is great! I am in a Yahoo group called Choice Moms I believe and they are all women like yourself and would help you out if you want advice.

  6. Check out www.delilah.com

  7. Try a local adoption agency.

  8. The first step would probably be to research and decide on the different types of adoption (domestic vs. international, and if international, then which country) Then you should contact a few agencies in your area, get information (wait times, fees, restrictions, etc), and see about attending an orientation or meeting with a social worker.

I know others suggest getting a home study first, however, when we adopted internationally we had to get our homestudy through our agency, so you may want to ask the agency you decide on before you do anything else.

    Good luck!
