I want to adopt a child......?

Okay before you go and say "your too young and stuff" please hear me out: i don't want a child right now cause i'm only 14, but when i get older i would like to adopt a baby! okay i have a couple of questions about adopting children here they go:

1. does it cost money to adopt a child?

2. how much does it cost to adopt a child in the united states?

3. how much does it cost to adopt a child internationally?

4. how long of a wait is there?

5. do you get to pick out which child you want..or do they just give you any child?

first of all yes you are too young i know you dont want to hear that but i think if you want to adopt a child its fantastic there is many of children that are out there that are in need of nice people like you to look after them and care for them and no adopting does not cost the only thing it costs you is for things they need when they come home to you and befor i go good luck ii hope you go through with it

First off, I would like to tell you that 2 of my 4 children were adopted. Applause to you for considering adopting.

1. does it cost money to adopt a child?

Yes, it does. Not so much for the child itself, but for court dates, flights (if out of country/state/etc...) and things like that.

2. how much does it cost to adopt a child in the united states?

I'm not sure. It depends on your state and things like that. Try searching it.

3. how much does it cost to adopt a child internationally?

I can't really tell you much here, but most of the cost is on plane tickets and such. Sorry I'm being so vague, but you must be more specific :D

4. how long of a wait is there?

Once again, it depends. I waited for my most recent adopted child for a bit. Maybe a little over a month, but I only told people about my plans to adopt further into the process :D It was a huge surprise.

5. do you get to pick out which child you want..or do they just give you any child?

Yes, you do get to decide. You can pick based on age, gender, etc, or you can just find a child that you love :) You'll know when you have the right child :D

It does cost in upwards of $30,000 to adopt if you go through a private/domestic adoption agency.  However, if you adopt out of foster care, it does not cost any money.

Internationally it can range between $18,000 and $30,000

The wait depends- if you are adopting internationally it can take between 1- 2 years- unless you are a celebrity.  

If you are adopting out of foster care you can choose age/gender of child.  You can even meet them first.  The DSS wants to make sure that you are a good match.  

In an agency a birth mother can select who adopts her baby.
