  1. Contact your local shelter or humane society about being a foster for awhile.  Maybe if you show your dad that you can be responsible with the foster dogs he'll let you get one to keep.  And if not, you are still doing a great service for animals

  2. to piggy back on what the others have mentioned, you could do some volunteer work at your local shelter...excercising and cleaning up after the dogs.  Might be enough to prove your determination to your dad.

  3. always remember this, dad and mom pay all of the bills,

    house payment =rent

    electric

    gas

    phone

    water-sewage

    Internet

    food

    car payments- insurance

    you health insurance and medical

plus most of all they pay for all of you and your bro and sisters clothes

and last but not least college.

so what are you going to contribute to getting a dog

food, vet, collars and leashes, treats etc.

  4. Sounds like you need to prove to your dad that you are capable.  Do you have an elderly neighbor?  Maybe you could volunteer to walk (and pick up after) their dog for them?

Fostering is a great idea, but keep in mind it is a committment, dont take a dog for a day or a week and then bring it back and ask them to find another home.  I have volunteered for rescues, and believe it or not people do this!  This is very stressful on them.

You can also volunteer at a local dog school.  That way you can learn the ins and outs of taking care of a dog too.
