Assuming you want to adopt domestically, this site is great.

A few things to keep in mind.  Some, but not all, foster children have special needs.  These range all the way from life-threatening medical disabilities to mild emotional problems.  Have a serious discussion with your family about what degree of need you are able to accomodate.  Another thing to discuss is the possibility of adopting a sibling group.  The more you are open to, the better your chances of finding the perfect match (or matches) for your family.

Before you can officially pursue adopting, you need to have a homestudy done.  This is to make sure your home is a safe and healthy environment for children.  http://home-study.adoption.com/

If you want to adopt domestically, you have a choice of going through the foster care system (virtually cost free and depending on the type of child you're able to parent, could be short or long wait) or through an agency or attorney for a private adoption.

If you want to adopt internationally, you can go to:

and see what country you'd like to adopt from.  From there, research adoption agencies that work within that country and decide from there.

We have two biological sons & two adopted daughters.  They're wonderful blessings.

that is wonderful!!! but be very careful. use a government agency. people have been ripped off before, promised a child, the company takes the $$ and then you never hear from them again.
