I am 14, but I am trying to talk my parents into adopting. I think it would be really nice to adopt a child from China or Iraq. My uncle is at war now and he wants to maybe adopt a son from Iraq because they are in terrible conditions. My parents also wanted more kids...but my mom had trouble getting pregnate. I have a little sis who is 8 and we both also wish we could have a bigger family. I have always, from the time I was 6 years old wanted an older brother. Thats probably impossibble. I guess ive always felt like I was meant to have one. What is involved in adopting a kid from a different country? How much do they charge you? Just wondering.

  1. You're a sweet person. Just remember, this is a serious issue and the decision makers are ultimately mom and dad. But that known, you're doing great trying to assist and find out the facts. I think it's noble and precious!

  2. Aw honey if you want someone to play with I'm sure you have loads of friends

A human being is not something you 'get' for you.  Perhaps Mom and Dad would get you a pet?

  3. Iraq doesn't allow adoption and neither does any other Muslim country.  China you have to be 35 and married for 5 years or more.  Many countries won't allow single people to adopt. They want married couples.

  4. you sound like a wonderful person. adopting is very serious business and your parents will have to go through a lot of work. an international adoption costs between $20,000 and $30,000 and can take about a year (from application to bringing home the child).

if your parent dont' adopt, perhaps it will be something you can do when you are ready to have children of your own.
