  1. we are going through the local county and its about a yr process just to get through the jump through all the hoops! They tell you about the child you never actually get to see the child until you are interested or say yes.

  2. Possibly. We've been inquiring on older children with a preference for siblings, and the one that we're most likely to get is a newborn. Go figure.

  3. You don’t just walk into a room talk to the kids and then adopt them. You still have to go through all the adoption paper work and more since you’d be adopting more then one child. However you could end up with your children a lot sooner since siblings groups and older children are deemed harder to place.

Siblings groups come in all ages  you could end up with say a 3 year old , 5, year old, 9 year old and 12 year old. Or 6 year and  old, 8 year old. siblings groups vary in ages and number of kids.. Once I was browsing and found a siblings group there were 5 the youngest was 1 year the oldest was 13.

  4. It depends. Are you looking only for babies? Or will you consider older kids? Because there are thousands of waiting children here in the US that would cost you little/nothing to adopt.

  5. Hollywood rarely portrays accurate data about anything...adoption is definitely included in that!

If you want to adopt siblings you can go about it a couple different ways.

Contact your state social services office (go to http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/reslist... to find contact information for your state).  Go through the adoptive/foster parent training & begin the process.  It's low or no cost depending on where you are as far as fees are concerned.  There are thousands of foster children waiting for their forever families & not enough families stepping up to the plate.  This process would probably not take very long depending on how narrow you are in the child you're asking about (if you ask for a healthy white infant and her two year old healthy white brother...the process will be long).

With international adoption, you can also request sibling groups from many countries.  Go to http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/... to see what country you might like to consider & then Google "international adoption" and the country name to find agencies.  Gather information, check references & choose your agency & go from there.  This process could take six months or six years depending on the country.

    I hope this helps.

  6. It depends on what you are willing to accept.  If you want to adopt children with minimal problems, than it could still take awhile.  My husband and I have been approved to adopt through the foster care system for over two years and have not finalized an adoption yet.  We are willing to take siblings and all that.  My husband is 30 and I am 29, so we don't think teenagers would be a good fit right now for anyone (us or the kids).  That me be part of the delay.  Other than that, we have been pretty open.  However, you may happen upon the right situation and it may work out quickly for you.  It all depends.  However, it won't happen in one day.  Those movies are a bunch of bull.  Best of luck, what ever you decide to do!
