I want to apply to a college that requires a 6 in HL maths and physics but I'm at a standard level what to do?

right now I'm in IB sophomore year, I have algebra 2 and chemistry. The colleges I'm looking at are requiring a 6 in HL maths and physics. first of all what does this mean? second can I apply to these colleges without have to take higher level math and physics? third do you think I have to do do I have to take summer classes to advance? fourth do you think IT IS necessary to advance? please help me! those of you in IB you know how rigorous it is help?

If they require HL math and physics, and you're truly set on going to this school, you will have to raise your standard level math and physics to higher level, which consequently means dropping two of your other higher levels (or one, if you're willing to do 4 HL's). Required means you have to take them or they won't accept you, and that's that. At my school, after honors alg. 2 and chem you can jump right into HL math and physics, so you probably won't need to take extra classes, but I warn you these are essentially the two toughest courses in the IB curriculum, and they are not for those who don't want to pursue math/physics/engineering at a higher level in college. You will probably have to devote several hours a day to these subjects alone. Make your decision wisely.

    There's always the option of applying to other schools, however, and from your situation that looks like the best route.
