I watched this World Cup last month... battle of Volleyball Men....Brazil and Japan....

Japan got 7 points straight while Brazil was stuck at 2...

Suddenly, one of the referees reported SOMETHING to the authority ... probably a violation from JAPAN team...

The violation was then recognized that Japan's 7 points was sent back to ZERO while Brazil's 2 points was incresed to 3 !!

I couldn't understand the reason why because it was in Japanese...

So my question is WHAT are the POSSIBLE REASONS or VIOLATIONS that could make it happen like that?

What did Japan Team violated?

  1. it was an out of rotation violation (the players did not rotate correctly).  This probably occured before the run, so all the points were taken away.

  2. I'm willing to bet that there was an incorrect server... How that happened in the beginning of a game at the National Level is beyond me. I highly doubt that the coach would allow an ineligeble player to play, unlikely. I'm sticking with incorrect server. They probably didn't rotate off the serve, common mistake and more likely to have happened

  3. MAYBE THE OFFICIALS LOOKED BACK AT THE TAPES AND NOTICED A MISSED PLAY VIOLATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Before a match starts, both teams submit their roster to the refs.  If someone who's not on the roster plays, that team forfeits all their points scored up until the infraction was discovered.  Brazil likely got the one point because the violation was discovered when Japan was about to serve -- i.e., the violation is treated as the cause of a sideout.

Here's a question for you: how did you watch a match between Brazil and Japan.  I was watching the World Cup in the USA on a channel called "Universal HD" on DirecTV.  However, they only televised matches in which the US was playing.  So, I'm wondering how you saw a match that didn't involve the Americans.

  5. maybe they didnt get their 1st point and then all the other ones didnt count

  6. it is most likely a inelidgeable player so they took japan back down to zero and raised brazil hope it helps

  7. Good answers above.

A wrong server for all of those points would remove all of those points.

A player in the match that was not supposed to be in the match would remove all of those points.  Examples would be players not on the roster, players who had been expelled in that set, or players who have been disqualified.

  8. The only reason i can think of is that the guy in charge of the scoring point board accidently put 7 into the j*p's point when it should have been Brazil points (from 2 to 3),,

When the ref spotted the mistake, he points out the mistake thus the points in the scoring board was change immediately

  9. Woah that's weird.

They might have been out of rotation or something the entire game but idk...

  10. Probably an ineligible player or the team was out of rotation, and the server was not in serving position.

  11. Great question!  I have no idea except the possibility of an ineligible player?  If identified, would cause the score to be reset for any time he was on the court.
