I want to backup my e-mails and application data before I do a system recovery. Where do I find it?

Forgot to mention I use Thunderbird.

    As to your application data, it depends on the application.  Most people store their files and pics etc in My Documents (on xp, which is really c:\documents and settings\USERID\my documents), or USERID (on Vista and then subfolders like Documents, Pictures, etc).  Some apps like Quicken keep the data with the program in Program Files.

    Also, if you're xp, backup your Windows address book and Internet Explorer Favorites.  (C:\documents and settings\USERID\applications\microsoft\a... book and c:\documents and settings\USERID\favorites)
