  1. i always wanted to become a boxer ever since i was 14 lol i am now 15 but i like the sport!you should shadow punch and use about 1 pound on each arm and that is good for your speed.i got this from one of the people who answered my question about boxing.thats my only tip.i need to learn more and hope fully you get good at it.oh and by the way one more thing!Dont try to build up your muscles or you will be slow and wont be able to dodge fast!good luck

  2. well depending on where you live a good gym is a place to start..walk in and observe trainers, just dont jump at anyone training..h**l nahhh you might get that dude that'll have you KO'D in your 1st fight... see who has his pupil listening and watch if they improve...now if you cant get to a gym you can buy video's and/or youtube... shadow boxing is always good but throwing you punches correctly is more important...and JOG 4-5 miles every other day...boxing is about stamina...i've seen guys with less talent win a fight because he could go the distance and the talented guy could'nt ski rope for at least 5 minutes straight then build it uo to 10 then 15 and so on.... and 1-2lbs weights will not hurt your speed actually you'll get use to the weight because gloves after aboout 1 minute of sparring or just bag working feels like a ton....good luck their rocky

  3. The best thing to do is to find a boxing gym.Like most of the guys said, observation is the key to know if that gym is right for you.Finding the right trainer is the most important.He/she will take of you mentally and physically.

    Here's a routine for you.

5mins of stretching and warming up

    3-5 rounds of Jump Rope

4 rounds of shadow boxing (2 rounds with hand weights and 2 rounds of weight free fighting)

    3-4 rounds of heavy bag

3 rounds of double end bag

    3 rounds of speed bag

work on your abs and push ups

5 mins of cooling down (stretch)

when you're not in the gym, run for at least 3 miles everyday

always remember, when you're performing you're routine, always work on your technique and your form.Train as if you're fighting the next day.Always ask your instructor questions about your performance.

And as far as sparring is concern, your trainer is responsible if you're ready for the most exciting part of boxing. Good luck!

  4. My best advise is to find a local boxing gym with real fighters.  don't go to some huge generic gym that happens to have heavy bags.  Go to a real boxing gym.  This is imperative because it will allow you to socialize and learn from other boxers and trainers.  Also, this is the best place to find sparring partners

My gym is dirty, no ac, duck tape on the bags, posters from like 80 years ago.  I LOVE IT!!!

    Good luck.
