Ok, I have the money to buy a car and I want to drive in NASCAR. I don't want to start driving on small dirt tracks, I want to go straight to the big tracks if possible. Anyone know how I can go about doing this. I want to find out how to join before I spend the big bucks on the car. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  1. im sure you need some type of driving experience... most nascar drivers got started at the local go cart track and dirt tracks... you need to have skill also...

  2. Do you have any experience?? That will be the first question that will be asked..

To go straight into a Nationwide or Cup Series is very doubtful without experience and you did not state whether you had any so I am assuming that you do not, if that is the case..then you must talk to the Big Dogs, go to your local tracks, make connections, try out with the street cars,(not dirt)...go to the racing schools for drivers, take the lessons and maybe you will get noticed by someone. Also visit the Racing shops in Mooresville and Troutman NC and talk with the representatives there and hopefully they can give you more information that you need.

GOOD LUCK, sorry could not help any more.

  3. first of all you need a nascar license to race.  nascar looks at all of your past experience from other series (aka local short tracks, arca racing, and other things like that). you then are approved to race on the smaller tracks on the circut.  after you have some of the smaller races under your belt, nascar approves you for medium sized tracks like chicago and kansas.  after that they approve you for the super speedways like daytona and talladega.  the chances of nascar letting you even race on the lower tracks are not even likely.  i would try to contact the Hooters pro cup people to see if they would let you race there.  that is a lower series that you should race in first although they most likely won't let you in either.  there is no way around working your way up through the ranks.  money won't start a competitive team right away either.  the average cup team (one car team) spends 25+ million dollars a year!  not to mention the start up cost (aka hauler to carry cars, the actual cars, the equipment, and personnel)
