I want to be a NIN forum moderator. What should I put in my application?

The first thing is i wouldn't let the users know your asking on Yahoo Questions for tips on your application :p. although what i would do is if your already a well liked user in the forum (which is a large bonus of course) and if your friendly with all the mods currently there ask them on tips to getting the position and they may even help you out in the selection process

Are they looking for moderators?  If they aren't, don't bother.  If they are, how long have you been on their forums?  They'll probably want someone that has been there for quite a few years and knows the territory well.  You have to realize that they've got millions of fans and people that they trust outside of the internet that would probably be much more appropriate for something like this.

In huge communities like this, the best way to become a moderator is to not only know your stuff when it comes to the subject the forum is about (i.e. NIN), but to be a good communicator and understand the guidelines of the board.  That is only after you've established yourself as someone that is trustworthy and dedicated.

Being a community moderator sucks sometimes - people often look down on CMs because they have authoritarian status.  It also comes with a lot of kiss-asses.

If you're genuine about your application, you're going to have to do a lot more than just be a huge fan of the band, and they'll probably want background experience in dealing with other online communities, forum software familiarization, someone that is level-headed and obviously knowledge of the band.
