I know how to swim, and I know the main components of most of the strokes. But I want to be competitive and improve my strokes, so is age 13 too late to start?

  1. It is a little late. Katie Hoff qualified for the Olympics at 14 and was 15 when she went the first time.

    But who knows?

If you are good, a good coach could get you well in shape by your 18th birthday, then you will be in the prime age for competition.

  2. its never too late, you started when you were in your moms belly.

  3. If you're in middle school talk to your PE teacher.  If you're in high school,  tryout for the swim team.

  4. same, im starting swim team this year, im not really sure that im even good, but i can get better. so can u!!!!! (im thirteen)

  5. No.  Just start doing it and being dedicated to it.  It's never too late.

Get on a team, take lessons, do what it takes.

    And good luck!

  6. You will have to work very hard... but it is never to late to achieve your dream.  However it is not easy.  My brother and sister are competitive swimmers.  They train four hours 3 mornings a week before school and countless hours after school.  They have been swimming since they were about 8.  It takes dedication and extreme self discipline.  Get a trainer :) join a club, remember to have fun :)

  7. Its never too late to achieve your goals, perhaps you should start with finding a trainer ?

  8. no it isn't olympians the best of the best are at normal age between 18-twenty something.

you should practice and practice until
