I want to be a dentist . . . please help!?

Hey guys :P well I will be 16 in October and my teacher told me I should start thinking about what I want to be so I can start specializing in special classes. Also how much schooling would I need, minimum and all that?

I am thinking about dentistry although my teeth aren't perfect (getting braces before new year) I think it would be a fasinating job. Can you please tell me what type of fields there are, how much the average salary eyarly is, stuff I should know? Please help.

Also lol um I have a cavity and I am getting it filled September 6th and have never gotten it before. Does is hurt, or do they give your a shot to numb it? And does the shot hurt xD lol thanks guys!

I don&#039;t know anything about becoming a dentist but I can help with your cavity question...I&#039;ve had a good number of fillings in my life...getting one more this week, and its just not that big of a deal.  They give you a shot to numb it, and the shot does hurt a little bit but after that it will be completely numb.  You won&#039;t feel anything during the filling and if you feel something in the very beginning, make sure you tell the dentist because it means the novicaine (the numbing shot) hasn&#039;t had enough time to start working.
