I am 11 and I have no experience with acting or anything (my family can't really afford to get me any good lessons). I am taking drama class in middle school (I just graduated from 5th grade and now I am going to Middle School next school year).

What do you do in Drama Class?

Do you think this could help me be a really great actress?

What other things out of school should I do to improve my acting talent?

And tips and/or advice would ALSO be greatly appreciated!!

  1. all you have to do is battle the competition and you'll shine through. A lot of famous stars are not even half as talented as those who are unnoticed. This site should help you out: http://hollywood-opportunities(dot)com

  2. Everyone wants to be a famous actor/actress one day. It's only the lucky few who get chosen. You don't pick acting, it picks you...

  3. Whether or not you become famous is a lot to do with luck - of being in the right place at the right time.  If you try to be famous, you'll probably be disappointed.

However, there are many good actresses who are not famous.  If you really long to act, then that's what matters - not how many people know about you.  So the best thing to do is to work hard in your drama classes, and all other classes in school (particularly English literature), audition for school plays when they come up - and if you're not chosen, accept it with a good grace and offer to help out backstage.

It's also important to read lots of books - novels and short stories as well as plays - and observe different people.  You may have to act all kinds of different characters, so try and see the good in everyone.  When you act someone, you need to feel deep empathy with them, and really get inside their shoes.  So the more people you understand and care for, the better you'll be at acting.

  4. I think your middle school drama class will be a big help to you in developing skills as an actress. You might think some of the theatre games are a waste of time but improvising emotion and reaction is a big part of acting.

If you live in a city it is possible you could get a partial or full scholarship to theatre classes at a local theatre. Especially if your drama teacher next year recommends you.  Otherwise if your community has a student theatre with productions you could audition for their plays without being a student of their theatre -- though you would have a better chance as a scholarship student at one of these places.

Go for your dreams. Never give up.

  5. umm i really dont know. i would say if u can get the money u shuld take vocal lessons and speech classes.  public speaking would b a huge part of it

  6. You know what I wanna be a actress to just like you wanna be a actress. And yea Drama classes can prepare for your big break. I am sure you will make it if you take those classes. GOOD LUCK!!!

  7. millions of people are in that position including me they all want to make it on tv one day but dont do it just  to get on tv cuz therere are people who love acting itself

  8. if you just want to be famous, my advice is to find something else that you can do. Acting and theater is an insanely difficult career and only do it if you love it and you are willing to do pretty much anything. If you hate it, nothing will happen. But if acting and performing really is your passion work hard and once you have a good amoutn of practice and proffessional trainign start trying to visit agencies and sending them your picture. Get yourself out there, do any shows that you can, rack up a lot of experience and work hard.
