I have wanted to be a flight attendant for as long as i can remember. I just turned 21 yesterday. I've applied at all of the airlines online that you only have to be 18 for. They all either never answer me or say I don't have experience. Of course I don't have experience! I've never been a flight attendant before lol. I was just wondering if applying online is the correct way to start my career as a flight attendant and also how I might get that experience that they're wanting. The best part of my 21st birthday was getting to apply at more airlines. Thanks!

  1. Unfortunately with the economy being what it is right now, the airlines are actually looking to lay off employees so I think that they are in a hiring freeze, at least as far as flight attendants go.  My sister is a flight attendant and I know they were dealing with the same problem recently.

  2. The secret to finding a job, particularly a very specific job for whom there are a limited number of employers is to try any and all avenues. So, yes, keep trying the online application process.  BUT also try meeting people who work for airlines who may have inroads to the HR department, networking, talking to recruiters, phone calls, etc. etc. etc.  Do you see my point?  Also, when it comes to applications, after a few weeks or months they tend to be ignored, so be sure to follow up and ask if you need to "re-apply."  If you know anybody who happens to be a flight attendant ask him or her how they got their foot in the door.  Also, the next time you are on a flight, ask the flight attendant with whom you happen to cross paths.  Anything like this you can think of might work.

  3. its never too late to apply. As what I always advise my friends, never get tired of applying if this is what you really want. I have failed 3 interviews when I was 21 but that didnt stop me from applying to other airlines, I got in in one of our local airline in our country and it gave me the edge to apply to a major airline company based in middle east, I got in..I stayed for 1yr and again, I applied to a new airline company, and luckily I got in. Experience is a plus but dont make it stop u from applying, because a lot of people got in without the experience, its how you make it on the interview. You have to convince them that this is what u want and have always wanted and of course what difference can u make and typical questions showing your confidence. of course, you have to be confident and flexible...and! People-oriented. dont stop applying. hey! try applying in emirates or in etihad. go online! you can submit your application online and they will email you. where are u based by the way?
