  1. Patience is the biggest one, and of course you need to love children....all children.  You need to be accepting of all children (Everyone is different).  You need to be able to multitask very well, and prioritize children's needs.  You need to make learning fun so that children will love to learn with you.  You need to love children with your heart...they will know how you really feel by sensing it.

  2. you have to be nice, creative, patient, and fun to be with

  3. I was a teacher assistant for 5 years for a head start program.  Try to make this a fun learning experience for them. they have 12 years of all hard stuff, let them be themselves , they are still babies and people forget that they are in such a hurry to make them grow up.

  4. Patience and good observation skills.

You need to be able to tell which kids are excelling, and which kids need that extra little push. You need to be able to deal with fighting, crying, and bored kids in a pleasant and nurturing, but firm manner.

Creativity goes a long way... young minds get bored easily and you want them to get the most out of whatever activity they're doing without them getting bored.

You'll get better as you go along, but as long as you can smile each day and do your best, I'm sure that you will be fine.

  5. In order to be a preschool teacher you have to be patient and kind. Nobody wants a mean tacher! Little preschoolers dont  know that much so dont expect them to know answers right a way. Let them express themselves, but dont let them use foul language.....(like they would know it!) Never let them fight eachother and if they do then calmly explain to them or the whole class why it is important to share and be kind. If the preschoolers get on your nerves....dont yell at them! Again calmly tell them that you will be right with them or tell them to ask later! i hope my tips will help in succeding your being in a wonderful preschool teacher!

  6. Hola soy de Colombia, So I request excuses by my English. To be a Good Preschool Teacher, simply you must love educating, loving your work, placing love to everything what beams, since thus it is as the things are obtained.

  7. To be a pre-School teacher, you have to be patient, because kids are loud and some of them are very disrespectful and if you loose your patience, they will all hate you and will always give you a hard time.

You also have to be kind and nice because they tend to respect teachers who respect them.

  8. First and foremost you need patience. You have to remember that they are experiencing a lot of things in the world for the first time. And being at school they are being asked to do things that they have not had the responsibility to do before (independance and stuff).

You also need to be creative. It's one thing to pull an idea off the internet to use in your classroom for art. It's another to be able to adapt that idea for your kids ability and the materials that you have.

Another good trait is flexibility. Especially in preschool... things don't always go as planned. Suzie has an accident on the carpet and you have to act quickly to get her cleaned up, the spot cleaned up, and the kids away from the spot - instead of reading your planned book. Or you have a kid ask an intriguing question about something that was not in your plans - you have to be able to take a teachable moment and expand on what interests them, instead of  you.

Equally important is the ability to have fun. If you get too stressed out about following a schedule, or dealing with co-workers and parents, or keeping kids from fighting... you'll loose the fun. Preschool is all about learning through play. And if you can get down on the kids level and pretend play with them, then you can accomplish so much!

  9. First and foremost, you'll need patience in high doses! Being a good preschool teacher is hard and thankless, but is EXTREMELY rewarding when the time and effort is put into it. When you first start in your classroom, you'll need to find the right balance between being a bit strict and being warm. If you're not strict enough, your students will tend not to take you seriously, but if you're not warm enough, your class will fear you and that's not what you want. You want your class to see as an authoritative figure but also as some who can be trusted.     Secondly, you'll need to be flexible and creative. Yes, it is advisable to have a routine to follow but for some kids and on some days, it's impossible to follow! Always be ready to tweak if needed. Creativity helps keep the children interested and involved in the classroom. Kids need a variety of activities to learn. Thirdly, be willing to learn. The children have just as much to teach you as you do for them. Each child is different from the next, so you will be constantly be learning how to best teach different children. Also, find out if you place of employment or an area college offers child development classes. Childcare and teaching methods are constantly changing, so it is best to stay in the know. Lastly and certainly not least, you'll need passion for what you doing. Children, even the littlest of them, are highly perceptive to their care-takers. They don't know exactly what it is they are picking up on, but they can tell when something is amiss. If you don't like what you are doing or you don't like the children, they'll know it and act accordingly. If you think you aren't passionate about working with children, they don't do it! I hope this helps a bit.

  10. On a personal note: I agree with all of the above, but you must not forget the parents and these are their "little darlings".  If you're rude, short or act uneducated and disinterested in the children it will show to the parents.  It's not only the little ones you have to please at this stage of the education game.  Especially if you're a new teacher.

Also, educate!  I would get so upset when all my three year old did all day was color and watch TV.  They are able to comprehend a lot more than people give them credit for.

  11. Being a good preschool teacher means being interested and involved with the kids, enjoy your job! Another thing is to provide many different activities for the children and to have a well balanced yet flexible curriculum. If your children seem to LOVE songs...go with it! Teach other things using songs (hygene, exercise, listening, stories even art!). Try different and new things every once in awhile.  Patience is also key but don`t use that as an excuse for tolerating poor behavior. Sometimes you do have to pull a kid out of an activity for hurting others or "talk" to them over and over and over again and it seems like you are getting nowhere with them, but you never know when the breakthrough may occur and they stop doing their bad behavior!

Experience will help you come up with new ideas and pretty soon the job will become like secound nature to you!

  12. first of all you need to really love children and understand each developmental stage for the age you are working with. read about children(i always subscribed to parenting magazines)and be kind, very patient, loving and nurturing.

  13. It is essential for instructors to possess the following requirements: interpersonal skills, teamwork, communication, patience, creativity, and flexibility. Another important skill teacher should develop are strong organizational skills, behavioral management skills and report writing. These skills will continue to help children manage behavioral skills by providing instructional goals and objectives.
