  1. Any flying experience does not help you in the slightest bit.

I have two retired fighter pilots in my family, and theyve made it pretty clear that the people who get picked to be fighter pilots are the ones with the most balls.

They intentionally get the guys that are headstrong and full of themselves. It makes for more aggressive pilots.

You have to have pretty decent grades and a college degree to get accepted.

  2. It's called the Air Force and you can't legally sign up til you are 17 and that is with a parents permission atleast that's the age for Army

  3. For Americans, the only domestic employers of fighter pilots are the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy.

To become a fighter pilot, you first must join the armed forces preferably the Air Force or the Navy as they are the ones in the U.S. who utilize fighter planes. The Marines have some attack aircraft but they mostly fly support for Marines on the ground. The Army uses mostly helicopters and the Coast Guard uses aircraft for rescue and neither of these two branches of the service engage in extensive air to air combat.

All pilots in both the Air Force and Navy are commissioned officers and all commissioned officers in these two branches must be college graduates. So the first requirement for a fighter pilot is to be a college graduate. The next requirement is that you meet the physical, psychological and intellectual requirements for admission to officer training.

Once in college, you may want to consider ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps).

Pilot candidates usually also have to take additional knowledge and psychological tests as well as meet higher physical standards especially in the area of vision.

Good luck!  This might sound stupid.. but DO GOOD in School and enjoy Math.  Mathmatics is one of the basis for all sciences you will study and need to know.  What you are doing now WILL affect your chances of getting a "pilot slot".

With hard work and assuming you meet all standards.. you can become a fighter pilot.

  4. Why would you want to fight a jet?  Lol.  I'm sure you meant you want to be a fighter pilot.  Go do school and get a degree in engineering, join the ROTC in college, and work really hard to get good grades.  Then, call a recruiter and see what they can do for you.  Good luck.

  5. If you want to be a jet fighter, stick missiles and 50 cal. machine gun on you. Put wheels on you, stick a guy on top of you. Put a for sale sign and sell yourself for 1,000,000,000 put an engine on yourself, go into the army shoot down a couple Iraqi's get shot at land get fixed, take off repeat shot Iraqi's until you get shot down, then get scrapped to Arizona or go to a museum.

  6. You mean you want to be a fighter pilot.  A "jet fighter" is a type of airplane.

You can obtain a civilian pilot's license as young as age 17, and it will help you get into pilot training in the military.

All training for fighter pilots is provided by the armed services.  The Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps train fighter pilots.  The Army does not, though the Army does train helicopter pilots.

Plan on going to college, joining the ROTC program for the branch of the services you like best, and finishing a degree in a desirable subject.  A recruiter for the service branch you want can advise you what degree to get.  You can talk to a recruiter any time you like.

If you are talented and you fit in well, that will give you as good a chance as you will get.

    Good luck!

  7. You'll have to get a pilot's license.

Then probably join the army, as a pilot.

But you'll have to be pretty good for that.

  8. Anyone who is in good enough physical shape can get a pilot's license. as long as you can get someone to teach you, and you can get a plane to fly in.

All jet fighter training is done in the military services. You need to be a college graduate in order to be allowed to be a pilot. (You must be an officer, and get the big bucks)

The Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard all have flying jobs, not to mention the National Guard.

Of course, not all fliers are pilots. Not everyone qualifies as a pilot.

  9. Your best bet is to 1st, got to college, get you degree, follow with O.C.S. ( officer canidate school) and then recieve a commision in the Air Force.  When I was your age, I wanted to fly "Heavy" Air craft. I got my chance when I was about 20 or 21 but, it was short lived. ( a couple hours). To make a long story short I became a flight engineer. But not a pilot. My parents didnt "push" me as hard as they should have to go to college. I would have enjoyed being at least right seater better the a penguin. (have wings but can't fly).
