I've already started getting a private pilot license and i've researched different universities who offer training for a commercial liscense and a B.A at the same time. Is this a good idea? I know you need a lot of expierience hours whats the best way to complete them? Are there any airline pilots out there who can tell me the best airline to work for? How do i get there? Is this a good career path to follow or is there something they don't tell you about? I can't find very much information, please help

  1. become an engineer,

starting salary for regional airlines ( which you will have to fly for, for at least 6 years) starts at 18,000 american dollars

so my advice to you is to either go to the air force, or become a doctor or engineer, so you can afford to fly for fun. after a while flying will become just another job. unless you work for fedex those guys have one of the easiest times, but if you ever want to work for fedex you will need to put in the time at a little airline for little pay and little sleep and absolutley no respect.

    good luck!

  2. The best chance would be to go into the air force, have a degree in engineering and study your buns off. A pilot should no the airplane he/she is flying inside and out.

  3. Well, in order to be a "Large Commercial airline pilot",   you would start with 1/2 a dozen Big Macs for lunch, followed by a couple of pizza's for dinner and very little activity.   If you follow this routine for a month I can see you getting quite large.

  4. I presume you mean a "pilot of large commercial airplanes," rather than a "large person who is a pilot of commercial airplanes."

It is actually not the best time to be starting an aviation career.  The suggestion that you become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, so you have the money to fly for fun is a sound suggestion.

My neighbor is a veterinarian, and owns and flies a nice twin engine airplane.  He can go when he wants to, and not go when he doesn't.  He's a good pilot, but my doggie puts her tail between her legs and runs under the couch when he comes in the door.

  5. there are some dumb as.s people in this world.

Talk to your instructor.  Most flying clubs (which I would suggest) have career pilots that are teaching now for the money,  which means the more money you throw down on hours, with a good ex "commercial" instructor, in half the cost of a degree and 15th the cost of a doctors degree, no pizza included, you will be 'in' sooner than you think.
