I want to be a make-up artist, where do i start?

i'm really into make-up etc and my friends say i'm really good at it and stuff. for as long as i can remmeber i've dreamed of becoming a make-up artist but i just don't know where to begin!!

are there anycourses i need to take etc?

There are plenty of career centers which offer this type of training and if you are unemployed you probably qualify for grants to go free.

Try some brands in department store, my friend worked for biothem in house of fraser and does make up for customers there, she got lots of practise.

There are the basic make-up courses which are normally incorporated into Beauty Therapy training, or you can take stage/film make-up, fashion make-up, etc, these are normally carried out by private individual companies such as www.greasepaint.co.uk and www.brushstroke.co.uk., check for local training courses in the private sector.

You should probably get your basics first then go onto specialise in an area of make-up that interests you.

If you enquire at your local college or search for Beauty Schools on the internet in your area, then give them a call and ask if you can take a stand alone make-up module, although you may be required to take the facial module to get the make-up.

Study Hair and beauty or beauty therapy at college. This is obviously what you need. Or.. you could do an apprentice where you get a job at a local beauty salon and get paid whilst you train.. I think you go to college one day a week too.

These are good though for real hands on experience.

if in the UK many colleges do Hair and Beauty and sometimes they separate these classes to just hair and just beauty.
