well i wanna be a musician when i grow up ppl have encouraged me to take lessons as i m rather gd at playing my instrument. but when i asked my mum she did nt allow me to take it saying she will consider. altho she didnt like really say NO! she said it very calmly n nicely. so how should i persuade her?? i've asked my conductor if he can intro to me some teachers to teach me privately. as my mom has no "connections". .i really hope i can go as a lot of ppl say that it would be a waste if i dun nuture my talent n i want to also.

  1. I can think of only two reasons why your mother would say NO. One would be that she can't afford the very high cost of private lessons. Is there a music store in your town? That might be the place to find an instructor. If you are as good as you believe, perhaps you could get someone to let you work for lessons. NOT, may I quickly add, without your mother's permission. There are some real creeps out there in the real world.

The second would be your grades. My kids had to carry a B average in order to have private music lessons. I think it is logical. All the the natural talent in the world won't help if you can't figure your percentage of the gate or read a contract. There are far too many musicians on the street for that to even be a point of argument.

  2. Jimmi Hendrix just practiced and practiced and practiced...and learned from different people as he could....remember when you go to school they teach you out of a book...get your own book and teach yourself...and practicee
