I really want this. If I put my mind to it, if I never give up, can I become a pro skater? I really love skateboarding. It's what I do best. What would I have to do to become a pro?

  1. Here's what you need to become a pro skater (snowboarder, surfer, BMX rider, etc.)

    Talent

    Determination

    Luck

Steez (might be the most important thing. It's what sets you apart from the herd.)

You need to start small.  Get sponsored by a local shop first.  Compete and win as many comps as possible.  Be a well rounded skater.  Learn to skate as many forms as you can.  The more and bigger comps you are in, the greater chance a scout will see you.  Your first sponsor is the hardest to get.  Once you get to this level, you have done very well.  I think only about 10% of skaters are sponsored and there are over 15 million in the US alone.  Eventually you might get paid to skate.

Don't expect to make your living from skating, it's really tough; there are only about 60 people who make their living from skating alone.  Most pros have a second job apart from skating.  Freak out if all your skating is paid for and you make a few thousand a year from it.

The biggest drawback to being a pro and even being sponsored is you are now a tool of whoever sponsored you.  They tell you what to wear, how many appearances you have to make and where to be for whatever they want.  It's now a job.  A cool one, but you have lost some freedom.

The best feeling you can get is not winning a big comp, signing that million dollar contract, but it's when some kid comes up to you and says "You're the reason I skate."  It will freak you out whenever you hear it.

Always skate because it is your passion, your life.  Sponsorship, or being a pro shouldn't matter.

  2. yes you can, if you practice and work as hard as you can to get better, and enter some skate comps, youll get noticed...

  3. Practice, practice, practice, then enter a skate comp and if you aren't satisfied with your results, practice more and do the tricks that beat yours. Get a magazine like thrasher, skateboarding, or skateboarder and see what the pros are doing, and try that.  Go to a skate park and get good at different terrine like mini ramp skating or vert. Make a solid video of you doing your best and send it to your favorite skate companies.  Or enter some big contests to get noticed. Good luck

  4. I'm not sure, but i suggest skate comps and X games good luck
