  1. I'd assume you would need to get an education to be credible. Schooling will help build your resume and to put together a portfolio to get you started. You can see about working for travel magazines or something of that manner.

  2. Well, the first thing to do if you want to be a professional at anything is to develop a strong foundation in that which you wish to be a professional.  Professionals don't just step into their dreams with notoriety.  It takes hard work and a lot of know-how.  I recommend you enroll yourself in a photography course or two like introduction to photography, principles of art science and history, composition, and lighting to start with.  From there, you should gain enough knowledge to know how much more education you'll need.  A degree in photography has not always been needed in order to be a great photographer.  And the same can be said for  many other professions as well.  But these days, there seems to be many more people who wish to make photography a career.  People are less willing to forgo their dreams and God given talents in favor of the status quo professional career their parents expect them to pursue.  Because of this, and the proliferation of photographic digital technology, computers, and graphic imaging, competition has made it harder for the naturally gifted to excel based on the merits of their creativity in favor of the education they have sacrificed to achieve.  But an education is not enough.  Earlier today, there was a question asking if a person with a degree in photography can do a job not associated with photography because that person had went through school learning how to be a photographer but didn't know the first thing about becoming one.  There are many more things than simply what you can learn that can or will contribute to whether you will be successful as a photographer.  There is a measure of drive and the pursuit of experience that weighs heavily upon the final outcome of any given profession.  So, whether you want to be a doctor, a lawyer, or a professional photographer shooting for National Geographic Magazine, the same drive and ambition is requisite of what you expect to gain from such a profession.  I can't tell you the best school, the best gear, or the best subjects to shoot.  You have to develop that on your own.  Take some classes, find a mentor, and seek out the experience you wish to gain.  With photography in general, the more you try to make it about what you can get from it, the harder a time you'll have in finding fulfillment from it.  The best artists are the starving one's.

  3. Good profession.

I would take some pics, post them on your website with a bit of advertising and leave your info so people can call you to take photos of them.

And don't just stick to landscapes and scenery, try abstract photos as well, you can become an art photographer.

  4. most fotogs are self employed, freelance or studio owners

people think? for some reason? that they shoot some pretty pictures and everyone will want to buy them. if they produce fine art then thats cool, the rest of us make money by having people hire us to make images for them

    a

PS dont forget to learn the craft fiirst, i did 2 years at fotog school then sold the tools for a few years while building up my client list, rep and niche.

  5. i agree with m.a.t.! advertising will help.

  6. well depending on your age ask your school art teacher for advise i know i want to be a photographer too put up adds for writer/publishers who need book cobers, or set up some pitures in local restraunts of art galleries, if in collage take photo class and get a schalorship thinggy to travel u know that kind of stuff

    good luck!

  7. Start with taking some classes in photography, learn the  techniques of a great world class photographer...if you work for a magazine or newspaper there will be travel involved. My cousin edited a magazine and she was sent all over the world to write about places, a photographer traveled with her to take the pictures...there are websites that buy amateurs photos and resell them to people who buy them for projects..keep your dream alive and do everything you can to get REALLY good.

  8. First get yourself a certificate or degree of some sort to show your dedication.

Build a portfolio of your best and favorite pictures.

You can make money by selling your pictures online. there are some sites that do the printing for you but you have to pay a percent of your sales to them.

You can also take your pictures to magazines and offer to sell them. they may even give you a job if your work is good.

If you want to travel then I suggest you apply for jobs in travel agencies, with magazines and newspapers etc
